When will participant registration for 2025 end?

Registration for the 2025 membership year will cease on July 15, 2025.

Is there going to be a blackout period for registration?

Yes. There will be no participant registration available between July 16 - August 4. Parents will be unable to waitlist their youth during this time either.

What is the plan for 2026 participant registration?

We are opening 2026 participant registration exclusively for returning members on August 5, 2025. Anyone currently registered in Scouting can renew their membership in the same Group for 2026 between August 5 and September 3. Existing members may renew their membership into a different Group once new member registration is available for that Group's Region. Waitlist notifications for new members will be disabled during this time.

What will the National Registration Fee be for 2026?

With inflation currently at 2.5%, we're making a small adjustment to the National Registration Fee to reflect today's economic realities. Starting August 5, the annual membership fee will be increased to $277. This does not include any Group fees charged to defray local programming costs or any weekly dues that the Group may require.

Will Groups continue to receive $25 from each registration in their Group?

Due to increased membership fee this year, Groups will be receiving a slightly higher bonus payment of $25.50 for each 2026 registration as added support, helping local volunteers deliver high-quality programs in your community.

When will new members be able to register for the 2026 membership year?
Registration for 2026 will be available for new members on a staggered, regional-based schedule starting September 4, 2025. Existing members may renew their membership into a different Group once registration is available for that Group's Region.

Why is new member registration being staggered again this year?

Decision was made to once again offer staggered regional registration in Fall 2025 based on positive feedback from parents and volunteers from last year. This approach significantly reduces the load on MyScouts, shortens wait times, and provides an improved registration experience for parents and volunteers.

What is the staggered, regional registration schedule?

September 4-7 - New and existing members can register in Groups located in Alberta, British Colombia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut ONLY.

September 8-11 - New members and existing members can register in Groups located in Ontario ONLY.

September 12 - New members and existing members can now register in Groups located in Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador, and Prince Edward Island. New and existing members who could not register during their regional window can also register at this time.

*MyScouts will remain fully available for volunteer functions during all windows but will require entry through the waiting room.

Will new members who register for 2026 be able to participate for the remainder of the 2025 membership year?

If there is capacity on a Section’s 2025 roster to accommodate additional youth, anyone who registers for 2026 will be automatically offered a spot for the rest of 2025. If you want your youth to participate for the rest of 2025, please ensure that a 2025 role is included during registration. The membership(s) you receive with your registration will be displayed on the checkout page.

What about families who registered during Summer 2025? Will they be required to renew for 2026 just a couple of months after paying for 2025?

We will offer 2026 memberships to all families who registered their youth in Scouting between June 1 and July 15. These families will be contacted to confirm if they would like to accept this offer to have their youth’s membership extended through the 2026 membership period. Parents will have until August 5th to accept the offer. This will enable our Help Centre Team to ensure that these youth are given 2026 roles and can help families find a different Group for their youth should there be capacity restrictions in the Section they are registered with for 2025. Please note that if a Group has waived its 2025 Group Fees, then families may be requested to pay a Group fee for their extended 2026 membership to help offset program costs at the local level.

When will these families be contacted to receive a 2026 membership?

We are planning to contact these families between late June and mid-July.

When do parents have to accept the offer of 2026 membership?

Eligible parents will have until August 5, 2025, to accept the offer of 2026 membership for the 2025 registration completed between June 1 and July 15, 2025. For the 2026 role to be added to eligible youth's records, their parent must confirm their intent to extend their youth's membership by the deadline. 2026 roles will not be added automatically.

What about youth who are currently waitlisted? Will they have to be re-added to a waitlist if there is no capacity available for them in their preferred Group?

In summer 2025 we will be contacting parents of youth who have been on any given waitlist for longer than a year confirming their intent to remain on the waitlist. Parents will be given 30 days to respond, confirming they would like to remain on the waitlist. If no response is received within 30 days, youth will be automatically removed from the waitlist. This will allow to keep our records more accurate and make our waitlist registrations move faster. All youth whose parents confirm intent to remain on the waitlist will remain on the waitlist along with any youth who have been waitlisted for less than a year. Priority sequence will be maintained for all youth.

What about youth who are on the waitlist for a Section that they have aged out of?

Youth who were waitlisted for a Beaver Colony but are now of age for the Cub program will automatically be transferred to the waitlist for Cubs. If a waitlist does not exist for that Section, they will be able to register with any other available Section as soon as registration opens for new members.
