Scoutrees Fundraiser - Info and FAQ

Scoutrees 2025 | From April 7 to June 6, 2025

We are pleased to announce that Scoutrees is back and bigger than ever as a Scouts Canada National Fundraiser! This could not be done without the hard work and devotion of our national sponsor Canada’s Forest Trust Corporation (CFTC).

About Scoutrees

Since 1972, Scoutrees has been providing Scouting youth with a practical way to display their care for the environment while learning direct methods to combat climate change through planting trees in their communities. This spring is no different as groups across the country are able to sell trees that will be planted and maintained in our biodiverse Alberta Forest by our partner CFTC.

How do I sell Scoutrees?

The sale of Scoutrees goes through our new fundraising dashboard: MyScoutGroupShop.ca. After you’ve registered your Group, share the link to your group’s dashboard to sell trees in your community. Customers will make their purchases here and receive tax receipts automatically here. At the end of the campaign, Scouts Canada will deposit your funds into your connected bank account.

Can customers top up their donations?

Yes, at checkout customers will be able to top up their donations and receive an automatic tax receipt. The funds will go directly to the group at the end of the fundraiser minus a 5% payment processing and administrative fee.

What payment methods are accepted online?

You can pay online using Visa, Mastercard, Visa Debit, Mastercard Debit, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal.

Can I share my fundraising page with a QR code?

The fundraising platform can currently only give a sharable link. However, if you are using Google Chrome as your web browser, you can create your own QR code. Please follow the steps in this link.

Can customers receive a tax receipt for making a charitable donation?

Yes, all purchases of $20 or more are eligible for a tax receipt which will be e-mailed automatically to the customer after their order has been placed.

Who is planting the trees?

Canada Forest Trust Corporation (CFTC) is our National tree planting partner. Every tree sold through the fundraiser will be planted and maintained in a designated restorative forest in Canada by the CFTC team. This year’s forest will be in Alberta. CFTC’s support will allow us to expand our environmental sustainability initiatives even further. Together, we’re embarking on a long-term collaboration to create forests across Canada and build programming that empowers youth through direct climate-action activities. Learn more about Canada’s Forest Trust Corporation.

Can I see the progress we have made? Is there a way to see how many trees Scouts planted?

Yes! CFTC has created a portal for Scouts Canada so we can watch our forests grow, see photos of our forest, and learn more about their long-term impact. Visit our forest portal here.

How much do groups receive from the sales of trees?

40% of the tree sale is returned to the Group to fund their adventures. 55% from each tree sale goes to CFTC to cover not only the cost of the tree but the planting and ongoing care for the life of the tree. Both the species of tree and the forest location are selected by our planting partner, CTFC, to ensure that it is the right type of tree being planted where it is needed the most. The remaining 5% goes towards processing fees and platform maintenance which allows every group to have their own customizable fundraising dashboard.

Is there an incentive program for groups?

Yes, there will be $5000 in prizes of Chilly Moose merchandise to top selling groups. Additionally, as part of the Treemendous Achievements Recognition Program all groups will receive Scout Shop gift cards when they reach the following sales milestones which they can spend on gear to use on their adventures.

  • $1,000: $50 gift card
  • $2,500: $125 gift card
  • $5,000: $250 gift card

Why participate in Scoutrees instead of my group planting their own trees?

Planting with CFTC ensures that the correct species of tree is planted in the right location.

The 55% to CFTC covers planting of and regular management, ongoing monitoring, and specialized maintenance of every tree in a designated Smart Forest. Smart Forests utilize advanced management techniques to store a large carbon footprint and maximize its ecological and climate impact. They also aim to rejuvenate wildlife habitats, create jobs, enhance the economy, and honour Indigenous Land Knowledge.

By participating in Scoutrees groups are also eligible for the Treemendous Achievements incentive program and prizing from Chilly Moose.

I still have more questions, what now?
