Returns Due to Sizing/Claims Sizing Charts Are Incorrect

Our sizing charts have been verified for accuracy.  If the instructions are followed correctly using a fabric (not construction) measuring tape the chart is accurate within 2-3 cm as per industry standard. 

 

As per our return policy the original or return shipping costs for returns due to sizing issues will not be refunded unless there is a defect with the product.  Upon receipt of your return, Scouts Canada will assess and determine if the item(s) are in re-sellable condition with the tags attached and if they are within the 2-3cm allowance when measured.  If they are you will be refunded for the price of the uniform only.  If there is a defect with the uniform you will be refunded for the price of the uniform and both the original and return shipping costs. If the product is not returned with the original packaging, including tags still attached, it will be returned to you with no refund issued.

Uniform Requests Outside of Current Offerings

All of our uniforms are custom made and thus have a significant lead time for production.  Due to this, minimum order quantities at the factory level and to keep uniforms costs as low as possible one bulk order is placed each year for all uniforms.  This order is scheduled to arrive in the summer in order to accommodate the beginning of the Scouting year in September.

As a result, while requests for uniform sizing changes or additions will be reviewed, if accepted they will only able to be added to the next bulk order.  This means that they will not be available for purchase for over a year depending on the timing of the review.  For this reason, we recommend consulting a tailor for any immediate uniform sizing needs that fall outside of the current offerings.

 

 

Recognition Item Availability

Recognition items are available through the Scout Shop.  All emblems/flash are currently available for purchase.  A small amount of medals are available for purchase as a replacement for lost or damaged medals only.  If you have earned a medal and not received it yet it will be sent to you by Scouts Canada’s recognition team and should not be purchased through the Scout Shop as we only carry minimal stock as replacements. Are Recognition Items Restricted/Verified?

No, recognition items are not restricted due to the time and cost involved in verifying them.  We trust in the integrity of our members to not purchase awards that they have not earned.

 

 

Language Strips/Religion in Life Badges

Due to the combination of low sales and production/storage costs of the language strips the decision was made not to reorder more after the current offerings are depleted.  We are working with Zone West who have set up a program whereby our members are able to purchase their desired language strips directly. Email info@zonewest to find out how to order and purchase.  This will ensure access to all languages and provide them at a lower price than if they continued to be available through the Scout Shop.

 

 

Request for Donations/Discounts.

As a not-for-profit organization all proceeds from sales through the Scout Shop remain in organization to support Scouts Canada programming and keep membership fees as low as possible. Lost or Stolen Packages

Due to the high dollar value all Group Orders and orders valued over $300 are shipped with a signature required.  You can manage your delivery preferences by visiting the Canpar website and entering your tracking number.  If you choose to waive the signature requirement for an order shipped with a signature required, it will not be replaced if it is lost or stolen after delivery.

 

 

Shipping Cost Inquiries and Complaints:

In an effort to offer the lowest possible shipping rates we have worked with our order fulfilment partner, Lowe-Martin, to quote with all major Canadian carriers, including Canada Post.  CANPAR provides the best rates for our purposes.  Rates are based on your postal code and the weight of the shipment, not the size of the package or value of the order.  Structuring our shipping rates this way provides better value to our members.   

In addition, to keep rates as low as possible we have capped the under 10 lb rates even when our cost is higher.  We also subsidize our rates by not passing along the fuel surcharge which is a fluctuating fee that is added to every shipping charge.  The fuel surcharge is over a 20% cost in addition to the base rate.  We also continue to offer a $3.00 option for small badge, crest, and pin orders that can be sent by Canada Post Letter mail (fit into a regular envelope without being over 15 mm in thickness or 50 grams in weight).  Free shipping applies on orders valued over $500 .

While we strive to maintain our shipping rates occasionally, we must update them.  Any increase to rates is done in accordance with updates to the base rates from CANPAR.

 

To help our members save on shipping, we have developed a Group Order tool that allows for anyone to initiate a Group Order whereby individual orders are combined and shipped with free shipping to one location.  To access the Group Order Tool or find more information log in to your account on scoutshop.ca and click on the Group order link at the top right.

 

 

Tracking Orders/Managing Deliveries

Delivery Options Include:

  • Provide an online signature
  • Print an advanced shipping notice
  • Redirect your package to a SMARTSpot location for pick up
  • Sign up for notifications

IMPORTANT: All orders valued over $300 (before tax) are sent with a signature required.  Opting out of the signature requirement using the Canpar delivery options will exempt Scouts Canada from any responsibility for lost or stolen packages once they have been delivered.

Order Editing, Cancelling or Updating:

Due to quick warehouse processing times, we are unable to accommodate modifications to orders once they are placed. 

 

 

Editing or Adding to an Order in a Group Order

Due to programming constraints, we are unable to edit any orders inside of a Group Order. If you need to add something to your order simply place another order through the group order link.

 

 

Can a Group Order Less Than $500 be Released and Shipping Charged to One Order?

The Scout Shop offers free shipping for all orders valued over $500 (before tax).  This amount has been chosen because it allows us to provide an option for our members to save on shipping while also keeping expenses to the organization down so that we can continue to keep the price of products as low as possible.  Larger orders not only save on shipping fees but is also better for the environment and a wiser use of resources.

 

The Group Order Tool cannot support the functionality of releasing an order with a value under $500 and charging the shipping fee to one order.  As a result, we are unable to manually release a Group Order that has not reached $500 worth of individual orders.  We recommend sharing your link with another group if you are struggling to reach the $500 minimum.  Otherwise, smaller groups may be served better by placing a traditional order and collecting payment from parents.

 

If it is not possible for a Group Order to reach $500 the only option is for all the individual orders to be cancelled so that they can be re-placed either as individual orders or combined into 1 regular order so that shipping can be applied.

 

 

Order Placed as Part of a Group Order by Accident

The order will have to be cancelled, refunded and placed as a regular order. We are not able to pull an order out of a group order and fulfill it as a regular order.

King’s Venturer Products

The Scout Shop will be carrying new products to support the King’s Venturer Award.  We are currently awaiting approval for use of the image of the King’s Crown from the Governor General’s Office.  Once this is received, we will be able to produce the new products.  We are currently unable to provide a timeline for when these products will be available.  Visit Scoutshop.ca for more information once it becomes available.

 

 

People Wishing to Donate Second Hand or Museum Items

We cannot accept any donations of scouting materials or uniforms.  You can find contact information for the Scouts Canada National Museum at the following link: Scouts Canada National Museum

If you have current second-hand uniforms that you wish to pass along please contact a local group directly.  You can search for groups local to you either through myscouts.ca or Facebook.

 

 

Brick and Mortar Stores

All brick-and-mortar Scout Shop stores are no long in operation and have been permanently closed.  Any Facebook pages and Google listings that we had control over have been deleted or updated as permanently closed.

 

 

Pop-up Shops

At this point we do not have any plans for pop up shops.

 

 

Out of Stock Items

Any available information regarding out-of-stock products can be found on the product page at Scoutshop.ca.  If you’d like to be notified by text or e-mail when a product is back in stock you can click on the NOTIFY ME WHEN BACK INSTOCK feature on each product page.

 

 

Area Badges

All Area Badges were discontinued in 2019 and are no longer available.

 

 

Gift Cards Not Working

With the update to the new Scoutshop.ca platform in 2020 any paper or plastic gift cards are not longer compatible.  In order to use your gift card it will need to be re-issued.  To do this please contact heather.main@scouts.ca with photos of your gift card/certificate that clearly show the numbers.  Your balance will be verified and a new electronic gift card will be issued via e-mail for the same amount.

 

 

Looking for Old Crest That We No Longer Carry

All of our inventory of crests are available on Scoutshop.ca.  If a crest is out of stock you can sign up to be notified when it will be back in stock on the product page.  If a crest is not listed it is because it has been discontinued and we are not ordering more.  If you are looking for a crest that we no longer carry you can try contacting a badge trading group which can be found on Facebook or Google.

 

 

Out of Stock Uniform Items

All of our uniforms are custom made and thus have a significant lead time for production.  Due to this, minimum order quantities at the factory level and to keep uniforms costs as low as possible one bulk order is placed each year for all uniforms.  This order is scheduled to arrive in August in order to accommodate the beginning of the Scouting year in September.

 

We do our best to order the correct quantities of all styles and sizes but there are times when we run out of some uniform items before the next order arrives.  Due to the long lead time required for production we are unable to move up delivery of these items.  Any out of stock uniforms are scheduled to be back in stock in August.  You can also sign up to be notified when an item is back in stock on the product page.

 

 

Joe Fresh Stock

The red Scouter uniform shirts in Men’s S, 3XL-6XL and Women’s 3XL-6XL are only available in Joe Fresh and have not been manufactured by CIMA.  Due to our efforts not to waste and the difficulty in meeting minimum quantity requirements because of how few of these sizes are sold we do not currently have plans to have them made by CIMA.  This may be revisited at a later time.

 

 

Gear Questions

We strive to provide high quality outdoor gear at competitive prices chosen specifically to support scouting activities and outdoor adventures.  Our product selection process involves testing of the product and collecting feedback from our members.  Products are continually being evaluated and added to our gear lineup.  Product specific questions or recommendations can be sent directly to Heather Main at heather.main@scouts.ca.

 

 

Renting Camping Gear

At this time we do not offer rentals on camping gear.  You may want to check with your local group.

 

 

Gear Warranty Issues

To file a warranty claim for damaged outdoor gear please contact the manufacturer directly.

 

 

Knife Lock Back With Logo 4” and 3”

These knives have been discontinued and have been replaced with Opinel products.

 

 

Complaints About Packages Arriving Damaged

We do not provide refunds for damaged packaging unless the product itself is damaged.  To request a refund for damaged product please submit a claim by completing the Return Form.

You are welcome to submit a complaint with Canpar directly for deliveries that did not meet your expectations.

 

 

Attaching Badges to the Uniform

Badges and crests are not iron on.   The best method for attaching badges to the uniform is to hand sew them as most sewing machines will have trouble with the thickness of the badges. You can also us the Badge Magic product available through the Scout Shop.  Please note that using Badge Magic is permanent and cannot be removed once applied if the instructions provided are followed.

Duke of Edinburgh Badges 

The Scout Shop no longer has the license to sell the Duke of Edinburgh badges.  Please contact the Duke of Edinburgh Organization for more details.

 

 

Why Are the Bundle Discounts Gone?

Due to a technical issue whereby the bundle discounts are not compatible with the new Group Order Tool we have had to suspend them.  To compensate for this we have absorbed a portion of the increase in uniform costs and have reduced the price of the section maps.  We are working on bringing back the functionality of the bundle discounts and applying them to more products. 

For further savings, we also encourage you to participate in a group order using our Group Order Tool to save on shipping costs.  More information on this can be found at Scoutshop.ca.

 

 

Subsidy for Low Income Families

Scouts Canada offers subsidies for low-income families; however, this is not done directly through the Scout Shop.  Information on qualifications and how to apply to the No One Left Behind program can be found at the following link: The No One Left Behind Program

 

Tech Cap Ball Caps

The Joe Fresh tech ball caps are a discontinued item that will not be re-ordered.  As a result, not all sizes and colours are still available.

If Something is Out of Stock Will we Send it Free Shipping When it is Back in Stock?
