When is 'Safe Scouting for Parents' training taken?

Parents / Adults staying overnight at activities either helping Scouters or not helping Scouters are to successfully complete the training session titled Safe Scouting for Parents.

Note: Parents & Adults in this role do not count towards ratio or the Two Scouter Rule

Reference the Volunteer Screening Procedure for a full understanding of all our Volunteer roles.

How long does 'Safe Scouting for Parents' training take to complete?

Safe Scouting for Parents takes 30 minutes to complete.

Can Safe Scouting for Parents be taken by a group of parents before camp so they can stay and help?

Yes! This is why it is accessed in MyScouts and not the David Huestis Learning Centre (DHLC).

Courses found in the DHLC are connected to Scouter roles. By including this training in MyScouts it is made accessible to parents who don't have volunteer roles. Parents can easily complete Safe Scouting for Parents in MyScouts before camp so they are able to help out (the group will also have to get them to sign the Code of Conduct and their role needs to be explained to the youth).

How to access Safe Scouting for Parents training

To access the training, you will need to log into your MyScouts profile.

Once you have logged into your MyScouts account, click on the "Safe Scouting for Parents" button found within 'My Menu' on the left-hand side of your screen.
