2026 Registration Year Transition Information

A Brief History – Why the change?

638 responses from a nationwide survey that was sent to Council Commissioners, Council Youth Commissioners, Group Commissioners and Registrars

Overall, responses across all roles demonstrated strong support for alignment with the school year, with:
only 5% advised to stay with the current format, and
84% preferred to make the change in 2026

66% of respondents indicating readiness within 6 months and only 3% feeling that they would need more than 12 months to prepare for the change

Update on Fees

We are prioritizing keeping fees as low as possible, while also being cognizant of inflationary increases in our costs

While we are still finalizing numbers, the decision has been made that  base membership fee will be increased at a rate higher than inflation to allow for:
An increase to the NOLB funding  pool to ensure more youth are eligible to receive funding and at a higher amount of funding
We will also be increasing the amount groups get per member to reflect 10% of the base fee paid, up from 9% currently

Returning members will pay a pro-rated fee to account for fees already paid for September to December. This pro-rated fee will be for 8 months

You can expect to get more details in the newsletter being sent out towards the end of Feb 2026, so please look out for this.
